WOWOWOWOW THERE! I’m very sorry that you were so offended by this, but heres the thing, you don’t know what it’s like to actually be present in that class. Some teachers don’t do their jobs right. They don’t do them well! It happens. It does and I’m sorry if you can’t realize that the educational system is flawed. What if he’s right? What if this is one of those teachers who continually complains that no one is learning, but never does anything to actually freaking motivate their students!
Just because a teacher’s been teaching for a long times doesn’t mean they are doing it right! 
EVERY STUDENT HAS THE RIGHT TO SPEAK THEIR MIND AND SAY IF THEY FEEL THAT THEY AREN’T GETTING THE EDUCATION THEY NEED!

Just because you might not agree with how he was talking to his teacher, doesn’t mean you have to label him, mock him, and say that he wrong about a class you aren’t even in.

I hear every word he says, and believe me: those are the exact words out of my mouth and every mouth of every teacher candidate in my college classes.

He is realizing what my fellow new teachers are realizing as well: teaching is an art, a science, a passion, a life style that must extend beyond a paycheck. And it is clear when a teacher teaches only for that. He sees it. This bright, observant young man sees what is wrong with education today: how schools have become factories, pushing results from students with worksheets, packets, and standardized tests that mean little to the overall reality that faces students beyond 12th grade. He sees her lack of passion, her lack of drive.

And frankly, even though I heard broken words and saw her face for mere seconds, I can hear how she does not want to hear him. She does not want to deal with him or his truth. 

Is it entirely her fault that packets have become the way she teaches? Only knowing what the district asks of her will tell me that. But my goodness…

You can hear the absolute conviction in his voice- the desire the learn is there, within him. I can hear it. I hear it everyday in my students. Yet they sing his song when faced with packets and worksheets. They sit in quiet frustration, waiting for science when they can experiment with balloons and magnets, waiting for writing when they can craft their own folk tales and fantasy worlds, waiting for music and art, gym and library. 

Do not simply see this man as a ‘bad student’, for he is speaking the words teacher candidates speak everyday: you must make students excited by being excited. You must know them all, name and face, strengths and challenges, learning styles (which he even MENTIONS in the video’s start!) and passions. 

The best thing he sees is the importance of teaching. We are teaching and preparing the future. But in some cases, the present is failing the future in many ways that both he and I see. God if he does not become a teacher himself I will be disappointed. 

Tl;dr:

Do not brush his words aside. He speaks a truth that many teacher candidates are attempting to expose and change everyday.

Schools are becoming factories.

They are failing the future of our nation unless teachers begin to see the  importance of their jobs. 

Teachers must have passion for what they teach and to teach with real world connections. If teachers are excited and committed to what they teach, 

students will be excited to learn.
